Luft & Co. Inc. as a green company and business take our operating responsibilities to heart. As an organization we operate under the core principles of "In Every Seed Lies the Promise of a Forest" which encompasses the values we follow and believe in. They are as follows:
- Ethical Production
- Social Responsibility
- Quality
- Trust
Low Eco Impact
Luft & Co. Inc. is conscious in everything we do as a company. We try to use low-emission vehicles to support our sales and delivery teams. As technology changes and improves our company is committed to choosing the most harmless green products and services available.
Plastic Bags
Plastic shopping bags are among the most ubiquitous consumer items on Earth. Their low cost, light weight and water resistance make them so convenient for carrying groceries, clothing, and other routine purchases that it's hard to imagine life without them. Factories around the world churned out a whopping 4-5 trillion of them in 2002, ranging from large trash bags to thick shopping totes to flimsy grocery bags. The sad truth is that many shopping bags never even make it to landfills; instead, they go airborne after they are discarded getting caught in fences, trees, even the throats of birds, and clogging gutters, sewers, and waterways. To avoid these impacts, the best alternative is to carry and re-use your own durable Natural Fiber bags.
Sustainable
Burlap is completely sustainable. The Burlap industry supports the livelihood of approximately 4-million farm families in the Bengal Region the largest producer of Burlap in the world.
Ethical Production and Manufacturing
The ethical integrity of our bag production is the most important part of the whole process. We take great pride in ensuring our bags are made to the highest standards.
Recycling
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American produces a total of 1,600 pounds (726 kg) of garbage per year. This only takes into consideration the average household member and does not count industrial waste or commercial trash. Approximately 80% of this garbage could easily be recycled or composted. We would like to see everyone play their part in reducing the amount of garbage discarded.
